RGCX – Race Preview

It’s just a few days away and I’m nearing peak stoke. Albannach is proud to present Rouken Glen Cyclocross (RGCX), back for it’s second outing, this time as Round 1 of the Super Quaich series. RGCX will be returning to Rouken Glen Park, Sunday the 17th January 2016.

This year’s event will host two races, an A and a B race both with 100 riders in each. Riders have been allocated to either the A or the B race by the Super Quaich team after painstakingly reviewing each and everyone’s performance this season. RGCX trialled an ability ranked format last year which by all accounts worked really well. The Super Quaich is a four event series that will adopt this format. It’s primary aim is to maximise and extend the thrill of racing throughout all ability levels. We want as many riders as possible to have a rider just ahead of them and a rider chasing them close behind. When this happens every rider gets a racing experience.

The races will kick off at 11am (B race) and 1pm (A race) with the prize giving straight after the A race at around 2.30pm. Both races are full (RGCX sold out in 26hrs this year!) and there will unfortunately be no entries on the day. Please do feel free to come along and enjoy the day and seem some of the best ‘cross riders in the county battle it out.

We’ve been supported by some amazing local companies Dales, WEST, Trakke, Route, & Edinburgh Bike Fiting as well as some renowned international cycling brands such as Clement, LizardSkins and Honey Stinger all whom we are extremely grateful.

Here’s a rough map for the day indicating parking, food & toilet facilities and the race course. See you there!

There’s a stack more information on the event specific to the riders to be found on the RGCX page.
