Round 5 of the Scottish Cyclocross Series, CDCX is brought to you by Dumfries and Galloway Council, Castle Douglas Development Forum and Albannach.

CDCX will be run under British Cycling Technical Regulations and we welcome our British Cycling Commissaire Team to keep everything good and proper:

For the FANS

Just to clarify, it is absolutely FREE to come along and spectate at CDCX. Cyclocross races live on energy and spectacle, so we would really encourage the local community to come along on the day and ring a cowbell, bang a drum, in fact get the whole family involved and bring anything to make as much noise as possible.

HOW DO I GET TO CDCX?

The race is at LOCHSIDE PARK, Lochside Road, Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway DG7 1EU

by CAR

Stick “DG7 1EU” into the navigator and follow the machine.

Unfortunately, parking is unavailable on-site due to the caravan site being active year-round. On-street parking will need to be adopted. The closest roads to Lochside Park being; Lochside Road, St Andrews St, Whitepark Road, B736, Marle St & Queen St. Please park considerately to not block driveways and through traffic.


HOW DO I SIGN ON?

Once you’ve arrived at Lochside Park please make signing on to receive your race pack your priority. Everything after that will fall gloriously into place.

The sign-on will be in the Crannog Centre, to the south of the park. See the COURSE MAP below for its location. Access will be along the western edge of the start chute.

Please be ready to show identification (BC membership card or other photo identification) and confirm your name and category.  Your race pack will include an arm number (for your left arm), a larger back number, eight pins and a timing strap for either ankle.

Before leaving the course at the end of the race please remove your timing strap and leave in the bins provided.

The timings for the day are as per the EVENT SCHEDULE as follows :


WHEN CAN I PRACTICE ON THE COURSE?

Please see your allocated course practice slot as above. You MUST sign on and be wearing your helmet, race numbers and timing chip before entering the course for practice. You will be allowed onto the course from the end of the start chute as it meets the course, access being granted by the race commissaires. Please make the most of the course practice and respect other competitors by leaving the course once it is closed. Announcements will be made to confirm when the course is open and closed.


WHERE IS THE START?

The rider muster area for call-up and gridding is indicated on the map below. Everyone must wait in the muster area awaiting their call up by the race commissaires. Please arrive at the muster area as per the EVENT SCHEDULE above. If you arrive late for call-up you will lose your position in the grid.  Wear plenty of layers to keep warm for gridding. There will be a 2min and 1 min announcement by whistle giving you enough time and warning you when to take off extra layers. Marshals will be on hand with big buckets to take jackets, hats, gloves, zip-offs etc. which you can collect back in the Crannog Centre post-race at your convenience.


WHAT IS THE COURSE LIKE?

Grassy, muddy, rooty, hilly, repeat….have a look at the COURSE MAP below.

When you finish your race please move off the course as directed by the marshals (in hi-vis pink vests) as far as possible. The marshals will direct to the left off the course to quickly allow the next race to start.

Please note the ‘Memorial Garden’ to the east of the event area as shown on the COURSE MAP below. This is out of bounds and should not be entered.


I’M PRO AF, WHERE DO I PUT MY SPARE BIKES?

We have DOUBLE pit, as marked on the map on COURSE MAP below. Please place spare bikes /wheels in the pits just before your race and collect once your race is complete. The easiest access to the pit will be to cross the course, south of the timing, routing between the course to the western end of the pits. There won’t be any bike wash facilities provided so please bring your own. We recommend doing this to the south west of the pits but out of the orchard.


WHERE ARE THE TOILETS?

There are toilets and changing facilities in Crannog Centre.


WHERE CAN I GET SOMETHING TO EAT?

CDDF will be serving soup and sandwiches,  Bramblers return with their dyno coffee some great local food stalls will be in and around the Crannog Centre.


HOW DO I GET AROUND?

There’s an awful lot of course in not alot of park, some of the paths are used for the race course. Please keep behind and the tape and use the sign posted ‘Crossing Points’ to cross over the course. Marshals will be located here to assist in crossing the course.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WIN?

YOU GET PRIZES! Prizes will be given for the top 3 riders in all races. The prize giving will take place as per the EVENT SCHEDULE above.


CAN MY FANS COME TOO?

Yes of course, please bring as many fans, friends, personal photographers, past lovers, colleagues as you like.  Please encourage them to bring instruments of all ilk to make a racket and encourage you and your fellow racers.


ARE PHOTOGRAPHERS ALLOWED?

Yes of course, please bring encourage all you photographer pals to come along.  Cyclocross is definitely the best form of cyclesport for photographers, loads of weird and wonderful stuff goes down and you see riders again and again throughout the race.
