The dCROIS of Col Moulson

Step forward the sixth dCROIS to grace the fields of Scottish ‘cross. After months of slavering over the other Albannach rides in the mystic, SRACX team Da’ Col Moulson has jumped in for a custom big yin of a dCROIS specially designed for his lofty needs.

Colin went for internal cable ducting for the rear disc brake (DT > CS), front derailer (DT) and rear derailler (TT > SS) to optimise shifting durability with the brake cable (hose) routing aligned specifically for a LHD (UK style) setup.

No bottle cage holes also meant that we could adopt the single ‘albannach’ graphic covering most of the upperside of the downtube. A wee #unicrois on the seat tube to finish it all off.

The build

Colin is a Campagnolo man, which can be a difficult taste to satiate in the world of ‘cross. As a result, there isn’t a group set as such…

Campagnolo Veloce Ergo Levers (actually only the right one, the left is a sexy carbon Athena) married to a Veloce front derailer and a Xenon rear derailler. Campagnolo CX chain rings proved to be like hens teeth to source, so the crankset is an FSA BB30 46-34T with some purple chainring bolts thrown in,
Braking is via the Acor mechanical hydraulic hybrids. These are essentially re-badged versions of the Juin Tech R1. They offer a closed hydraulic system operated by cables from the lever – in this case Jagwire XL compression-less.
50mm carbon tubular rims laced onto Novatec hubs,
Custom Euan Lindsay painted eXotic carbon fork in bespoke #SRACX colours nestled in with an RSP headset,
Shimano XT PD-M780 pedals,
Specialized Toupe saddle,
Deda Elementi finishing kit,
Wrapped up with Lizards Skins DSP tape, and
Topped off with some Hope clamps, spacers & bolts.
